yes, i am still here

I am aware that I have abandoned my blog for almost an entire month by now. To try to revie this habit, I came here to give an update about what happened in the last 30 or something days:

  1. I visited Europe for the first time in my life. I went to England (London), Spain (Madrid) and France (Paris) in a 15-day vacations with my wife.
  2. I have effectively fallen in love with London and I am considering transferring my immigration efforts to England instead of the United States.
  3. I bought a new phone, an iPhone 16e - perhaps a waste of cash more out of vanity than necessity but it's a pretty cool phone.
  4. I am facing trouble trying to focus on my studies and I am due an exam in the next month for Fortinet's FCP.
  5. I failed on my promise of not using social media anymore and downloaded and used Instagram during my trip. After returning home I uninstalled it quite immediately. I feel completely disconnected from social platforms although some "social interactions" force me to go back every once in a while. I now understand that for some people a balanced approach on that subject instead of going full AWOL as I have done could be the way.
  6. I bought a guitar - a S by Solar AB4.6C and it's one of the coolest stuff I have ever owned. I had trouble with a sound interface while trying to emulate an amp through my computer and still need to figure it out. Learned how to play some Alice in Chains, Deftones and System of a Down (some of my favorite bands)
  7. I have overworked my Ubuntu installation that I have as a pet on a old Dell Optiplex 3000 series, installing manually almost all of the Kali tools to not deal with Kali's stupid upgrade process and ending up with the task of reinstalling the entire operating system over again.
  8. I have decided that I must learn Go lang and stop being a Python script kiddie.
  9. Inspired by my brother's recent acceptance on Federal University, I have enrolled in a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering. This is one of my first steps in leaving my home country and try to pursue a better future for myself, my wife and my future children.

Writing is very hard and demands me reflecting on many of the subjects that go over my mind constantly. This is probably the reason why I have some 4 or 5 unpublished drafts as I keep revisiting the text and try to sound more professional. So hats off to anyone that can keep that streak and being satisfied with the end result.

Once again, thank you for reading. See you in the next one. :)
